Minors wins best prototype at the Game Lab Competition

On Monday night, the Game Lab Competition’s 17 teams were together at the Rialto Theatre for the competition’s closing Gala.

After developing playable prototypes over 10 weeks (followed by a couple more weeks spent stressing out in their living rooms), participants were treated to a legendary night hosted by comedian Mehdi Bousaidan.

Several mentors, teachers and younger students who took part in our common initiatives with Fusion Jeunesse also attended this hilarious awards ceremony.

At the highest point of the night, Julien Desaulniers, president of the jury in 2018, came back on stage to announce the best prototype award.

“The games you created entertained us, amazed us and, of course, made us more aware of your causes. Choosing the best prototype turned out to be a heavy responsibility, almost cruel “, he said.

Cédric Orvoine, human resources and communications vice-president at Ubisoft Montreal, presented the audience award, won by Gloomi of Polytechnique Montréal in collaboration with UQAT Montréal. He then took the opportunity to highlight Ubisoft CODEX initiatives and the employees who are passionately involved in this program.

« […] what makes a huge difference, what makes our initiatives so prolific, is the active involvement of Ubisoft employees. Thanks to them, the students come in contact with rare, insightful and unique expertise, knowledge, and professional experiences”, he said.
